Can a Parent Take a Minor's Wages

Im a 17 year old male in ohio. Ive been getting direct deposit from wendys for the past year and it goes to my joint pnc account with my moms. If i switch to the wendys paycard which would be under my name, could my mom legally take the card from me?

Unfortunately, yes. From a statutory standpoint you are still a minor (unless you are a veteran) and your income belongs to your parents.

From a practical standpoint, what has your arrangement been with your mother regarding the use of your earnings and why would you expect that she might object to your use of a paycard?

If she doesn't give you a hard time about your use of your earnings, you might be wise to continue the status quo until you become 18.

Alright since yall want to run your mouth let me just shut you up. She was on birth control and i used a condom but it broke twice so one of those times is when she got pregnant. And to the asshole who asked if i knew what birth control is, yes i do, its something ypur parents shouldve used so that you*wouldnt have been brought into this world. And to the other assholes on this thread, maybe you should just answer my ****ing questions instead of being rude. You dont know half the shit ive been through. Well, that certainly isn't going to win friends and influence people.

If you are a father with the obligation to support your child you could likely become emancipated. Of course you would have to fully support yourself in that case as well. If you cannot do that, then you are a minor with only the rights that come with that status. Welcome to the big leagues, your life was not your own as a minor and it will not be your own until your child is grown.

So you are picking up all the medical bills her parents insurance is not covering and you are saving up for diapers and clothes? Then there is the stroller and car seats, play pen, toys, you better be a hard worker at Wendy's.
