Can Minors Move Out if They Have a Baby
Im a 17 year old male in ohio. My girlfriend will be 17 in a couple days and she is 2 months pregnant. My mom can get physically abusive sometimes and actually i have a broken nose and a black eye right now cause she hit me. I was wondering if when my kid is born i can move in with my girlfriend? The due date is july 23 and ill be 18 on september 8th. I have a job and i currently have a car and woild have a car still if i moved out. I would still go to school and everything and her parents said i could move in, i just want out of this house asap

Minors can move out when they turn 18. Otherwise they need parental consent.

If you are being abused and/or assaulted, you need to contact the police and/or CPS/DHS/DHR/DFCS.

Not even the shadow of a phantom of ghost of a chance. That's not only no, but Hell no. That's, you're dreaming to even imagine it, No.

And you can be brought back home by the police and anyone who assists you can face criminal charges - even AFTER you turn 18 (f you manage to stay in hiding that long).

Sweetie, don't. I say this as an Ohio resident whose parents nearly killed her.

If you run away and are apprehended - and I promise you, you will be - you will either be returned to your family or incarcerated. Every time you run, this will happen, and the more often you run, the more likely it is that you will end up incarcerated. This is NOT what you want, as it will interfere with your schooling and interfere with your ability to get a job to support your family.

You only need to make it until September 8th. Right now, it feels like an eternity. It isn't. You need to do everything you can to sock money away so that at 12:01AM on September 8th, you can move out and never look back. You can call DFS and show them evidence of abuse to get an investigation rolling, but by the time that's worth a damn, you'll be 18 anyway. Hang in there, keep your head down, don't argue with them, do what you need to survive. When you're 18, leave.
