But if you know so much that we are missing, shouldn't you want to help us see the error of our ways?
Nope, only you can change your own beliefs, and if you already know the anwsers then why even evaluate your beliefs right?
Besides humans are curious, if someone thought they were really missing knowledge that was important to them, they would search it out.
Merry christmas!

thats why it was asked you enlighten us. That is an attempt to gain knowledge
now I prefer to seek knowledge from a source that has proven their worth but sometimes you can learn a lot from those that are.... Well...... Less knowledgeable. They often allow one to learn lessons of what not to do.

People don't gain knowledge without first understanding that they need it because their beliefs might be wrong. Otherwise confirmation bias leads them to whatever knowledge they can stomach.
Good luck to you sir and merry christmas.

so you are saying the only reason a child learns math is because they have become aware of their need for it? Seriously?
Your ideas are obviously your own and not shared by any intellectual community.

You keep trying to sound intelligent but continuously fail at it.
and I missed the response you placed inside the quote (you might want to gain the knowledge of how to use the forum properly since it has become aware you do have a need for it).

all salesmen "know" psychology at some level. Whether they use their knowledge effectively is a different matter.

Correct you are, in fact not only did I come up with the concept of mastery motivation, I am the only one who shares this way of thinking.
Good job professor.

It is impossible to sound intelligent to someone who is not.

Lmfao, yes most salesmen take at least one psych class.
Not.

What does taking a psych class have to do with "knowing" psychology ( and your statement alone about "knowing" psychology is problematic in itself)? One can be highly educated in the field of psychology or have never taken a single class but the basis of selling requires the use of psychology.
mastery motivation is not what you have defined either. In fact it is the opposite of what you claimed. The reward is in mastering the task without the need for it to have a purpose. You claimed that a person does not learn unless they realize a need for the education.

You doubt really? Did you doubt I was being serious? Did you doubt I was using sarcasm?
Nope I don't think you need to take a class to understand psychology, that's why they do not offer it in college. It is so easy to understand, someone can master it just by believing they don't need to take any classes in it.

And the basis for law enforcement is the law, yet how many times can we say that cops have very little clue about how the law really works? Just because something involves an aspect of knowledge, does not in any way mean that people are cognative to that aspect.
I was a salesman for a good 10 years when I was younger, started at 16 selling door to door. In those 10 years not one person pontificated about the psychology of selling.
Ok explain a child's drive to learn then sir.

Since intrinsically motivated activity is more rewarding in and of itself, children learn more from this sort of activity, and they retain that learning better. Intrinsically motivated children are more involved in their own learning and development. In other words, a child is more likely to learn and retain information when he is intrinsically motivated - when he believes he is pleasing himself. Parents can build on this sense of confidence by guiding their child's play and activities while still giving the child a range of options. This unstructured play is an essential element of the child's motivation, learning, and development.
Here is a great read on the subject of child learning.
