Getting Theft Charges Reduced to Misdemeanors
My question involves criminal law for the state of: oh
I pressed charges against my son for stealing so that he could get some help for his heroin addiction. He is being charged with
Theft M1 f4
Theft w/o consent x2 m1f4
Can these be reduced to misdemeanor charges??
What if I don't show up? I am not trying to throw the book at him just want him to get help?!
Help!

You have a very strange way of "helping" people.
Help get him an attorney now.
It is by and large no longer up to you. It is society that is harmed by your son's criminal behavior and the state is the one prosecuting him. You do not have the option to not testify. If you do not show up in response to the subpoena the judge can issue a warrant for your arrest.

I have to respectfully disagree. Mom is personifying "tough love", and I personaly commend her for it. Heroin stole her son, or rather his free will, and it may very well be that Mom is pretty much out of options and the situation has denigrated to this course of action.
The same situation has/is happening up the street from me and it confounds and irritates the snot outta me that, despite being victimized three times, they still refuse take this sorta route, which truly is their only option at this point!!!
I'll cry right along with them when it comes times for his funeral.....wondering the whole time what may have been if they'd made the right decision at an apropriate time. As far along as he is, the funeral is not all that too distant into the future.
I wish Mom all the 'luck' in the world! AND! I hope she "wins" her son back!!!

If he doesn't have priors,or at least no other prior felonies or theft crimes. With a lawyer he a chance at getting the charge reduced to a misdemeanor.
