Can a 17-Year-Old Run Away from Home in Louisiana
My question involves guardianship in the State of: Louisiana
I am 16 years old and I make 17 in 6 months. My father mentally, emotionally, and physically abuses me. He constantly degrades me and brings me down. He is very controlling,and not like the regular father against teenage girl controlling. I am talking about I can only eat two sandwiches a day ( he counts the bread and meat), I cant have a phone, I cant watch TV, I cant go on the computer, I just cant do anything. I reported everything to my guidance couselar and she contacted the state and they told me that i don't have any physical evidence, so they cant really help. I also talked to a police officer, and he said that once I make 17 and can leave out of the house, as long as I stay in school, but I have been researching this to make sure, and all the information that I have gathered is contradicting. Can somebody please help me?

If you don't have a phone and can't use the computer, how did you post your question here?

As to your question;
i find nothing that allows you to legally leave home 1 day before your 18th birthday without your parents permission.

At age 17, you remain a minor and are subject to your parents' control, but you are no longer subject to juvenile court jurisdiction for running away. That means that the police are unlikely to become involved if you run away, but that your parents can lawfully drag you back home.

Well, to as your question I am in school. So, the only time I can actually get online is during school hours, and since this not school related, the only time I am allowed to get on here is during my lunch break.

Talk to your school counselor about what is going on at home.
