Can a Birth Mother Obtain Custody of a Child Given Up for Adoption
My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Oregon
Im asking for my friend who had a kid when she was around 18 and tried to raise her herself but was pressured by her in laws to give up her kid for adoption to be adopted by them. They went behind my friends parents backs and like i said pressured her into signing over her kid. She regreted it a lot instantly but was overwhelmed with new parenthood and the whole situation. My friend is older now and in a very stable situation. Is there any possible way at all that she could regain custody of her kid? Any way at all? Like if the kid said in court that she would like to live with her mother? Can my friend atleast gain the right to have visits with her kid?
Re: Can a Birth Mother Obtain Custody of Her Child
She's no longer the mother of the child, legally speaking. The child's mother is the female who adopted her.
Your friend has no standing to sue for visitation or anything else.
Sorry.
