What Will a Store Do if You Fail to Pay a Civil Claim
My question involves court procedures for the state of: New Jersey. I was stopped for shoplifting ay wal-mart and they let me go no police or anything like that this was over a month ago I received a letter stating I owe wal-mart 150.00 Today I received another one stating if I don't pay wal mart may consider further actions to enforce it's rights under the law. What does this mean?

They can sue you. Although they won't threaten to do so if your don't pay the civil demand, they may also reconsider their decision not to refer the matter to the police.

It means that they can call the police and have you criminally prosecuted.
From what I've here from hundreds of other Walmart shoplifters, Walmart takes that seriously.
I suggest you just pay the $150.00 and get on with your life, learning an important lesson I hope.
