Oh, you aren't from farm country, are you? I get a kick driving past one of the high schools near me. It isn't unusual to see a tractor or two parked at the school.

Oh, yeah ... we're at the tail end of harvest. A traffic jam here usually involves a row of harvesters rolling through the center of town. :)
No tractors in the parking lot at the high school, though - no room. But, LOTS of pickups! A white full-size Ford or Chevy seems to be a requirement to live here.
tail end of harvest? Wow you guy harvest early. Maybe it's what you grow. Soy beans and corn are the majority around here. We have a ton of fruit though as well but that is a different animal altogether. I'm not sure many have started around here and if you live about where I think you live, you have a lot better weather than we do. Maybe it's because you probably get to plant earlier than we do to.
gotta love getting behind a big ol' harvester with no room to pass.....for 5 miles and they can't pull off since the road drops off so much, no crossroads, no nothing but a long slow drive behind a harvester.
Certainly. Rice, almonds, olives, walnuts, corn, some tomatoes, and a smattering of everything else. Sheep and cattle are waning because of the ongoing drought and the expense to ship in grain and water, so many are being shipped or sold out of state. We're not allowed to use th water that passes through here - gotta keep the fishies happy, ya know, even if it costs jobs and livelihoods. :grumpy:
Our weather is good. Warm in the spring, hot in the summer, moderate in the fall with a slight chill during the winter. Seasonal crops can usually start being be planted in early May, so the harvest cycle begins in September - depending on the crop - and continues into mid-October.Quote:

And you can tell who's from out of the area because they get frustrated and angry ... those of us that live here think, "Money and jobs! Have a great day!"Quote:
