You police officers need to realize that you are only hurting this country and your family's by taking our rights away. You think it makes you look like badasses but in reality you are just hurting yourself. If I actually wanted to take this to the supreme court they would have to drop all charges and pay millions in retribution. By the actual law I don't even need a license to travel on our public roads that believe it or not, still belong to the the public. Let alone need tags or even insurance since it is my constitutional right to travel unencumbered by you dickheads. But since idiots like your.self think its cool for America to become a place of no rights and be under martial law this is the things Americans have to deal with. And in most cases americans also pretaines to your own family. **** your own family over just so you can feel better about yourself. Your awesome.

Now you've descended into the abyss of stupidity.

its people like you that are so hell bent on getting someone for whatever you can that just skip the whole story and read only the part you want.

Perhaps it is people like you who, arguably, break the law and then get upset when they are caught. If your story is true, and placing the plate on another vehicle is lawful in your state provided you can show proof that the other vehicle is junked or sold, then you have a right to be miffed, but, the fault lies largely with you.

You Must be a cop to act that way.
    Adjusterjack is NOT a cop.

Not caring if someone is innocent just get to the part where you can get them for something and make yourself feel better.
I doubt anyone felt "better" for towing your car.

    Quote:

I hope your cop buddy feels good about "stealing" my car although the car was legal and doing a thorough search in it against the 4th admendment. All but thats ok cuz we don't have rights anymore because of ignorance.
I doubt they are buddies, but, since the USSC has ruled that inventory searches are legal, it is NOT a violation of the 4th Amendment.

As stated, he is NOT a police officer. And no one took your "rights" away by impounding your vehicle pursuant to state law and searching it pursuant to established case law and USSC decisions.

    Oh so wrong!

Now you are descending into madness. The courts have consistently ruled that driving is a privilege and NOT a right. You can travel all you want, you just don't have a right to do so in a motor vehicle. Read, learn, understand.

I know dis. I quoted the law a few hours ago.

I also suggested obtaining proof from the scrapper but he has found a receipt that should suffice.

I would suggest he contact the prosecutor to possibly figure this out before it even goes to court hearings. With the evidence, if it is accepted, a prosecutor can dismiss the charges and be done with this.

Yep. Sounds like the issue can be cleared up to prevent any further penalties. Yes, it is likely the impound will still stand and he may be out those fees, but, he can always see about speaking to someone at the agency and see if there is a way to mitigate those costs as well.

I can't imagine how anybody makes the leap from AdjusterJack to cop unless they have a screw loose to begin with.

The courts have consistently ruled that driving is a privilege and NOT a right. You can travel all you want, you just don't have a right to do so in a motor vehicle.

Actually, to be precise (and a smart-ass, sorry Carl!), you can travel in a motor vehicle all you want with no license, registration, insurance, or what have you - and be perfectly legal doing so - as long as you do so on PRIVATE property WITH the property owner's permission. As soon as you operate that vehicle on a PUBLIC roadway, the rules apply to you just like everyone else. Additional OTHER laws or liabilities may also apply, including things like reckless endangerment, neglect, etc. depending on what's happening during your private property spree... but from a strict "traffic" point of view, it applies to operating an otherwise lawful motor vehicle on public roadways.

My mom could never understand why the local cops in her city never ticketed people who ran the stop signs contained within the parking lot of her local supermarket...and the answer is: because they are on private property and unless there are specific circumstances, such as an accident with injuries, local police have no authority to enforce privately owned and placed signs on private property. It's also the same reason my state law enforcement officers can't and won't enforce all the "no wake" signs that homeowners in some places put up every 5 feet to discourage people from making a wake; because the canals in question are PRIVATE property and simply putting up a sign doesn't magically make it either "official" or enforceable. No wake markers put up by the state office of boating and waterways are enforceable, signs put up by Mr. Pointy Nose Hightower III, aren't. < /my-last-nerve> < /rant>

Similarly, in most communities, your vehicle can be towed for things like expired tags even if the vehicle is sitting in your driveway (private property) - because the way most municipal ordinances are worded, if it can be SEEN from the roadway, it has to be compliant with certain things (aka no flat tires, no windshield smashed out, no expired tags), or else it becomes an eyesore better known as a "junked or abandoned vehicle" and either police or code enforcement can take action against the vehicle by having the offending vehicle removed. (Where, as here, an inventory search of the vehicle would be conducted pursuant to the tow .)

There's another way you can travel in a motor vehicle all you want with no license, registration, insurance, or what have you and be perfectly legal doing so - as a PASSENGER.

Well, you can also travel with farm equipment from one field to another for a short distance ... but, that - and driving on private property - won't get you too far.
