I was not trying to see it your way not am I sympathetic. You are concerning yourself with something you have made up in your own mind.

As as I said; just drive the bus. IF something happens, be prepared to contact the police and videotape the confrontation.

If the local prosecutor declines to take any actions against the guy it's time to move on with life.

You possess a CDL with a passenger endorsement and drive while taking Lorazepam?

Have you told the prescribing doctor about your job related duty of driving a school bus with children on it?

Have you disclosed the use of Lorazepam on your medical record when being examined for a medical examiners certificate?

I think this 6 foot 250 LB guy is the least of your worries.

Use of Benzo's is not completely disqualifying. It is up to the medical examiner to certify based on prescribing doctors report and company policy. I will say that with all the downward pressure from the Federal Gov't, it is rare to find an examiner who will approve them.

Just because you have a script, doesn't mean you can legally drive with a CDL while on some medications. The prescribing doctor must be made aware that they will be prescribing that medication to an individual that will possess a CDL and won't interfere with their ability to operate that motor vehicle.

Although, you can get a doctor to agree, like you said, it's almost a certainty that the medical examiner for the DOT certification will disqualify that individual. Especially when children are involved.

It is ultimately up to the medical examiner. At the moment it would be a cold day in Hell before a medical examiner would pass me. I have my CDL on ice with no medical card. I fought the medical examiner battle for years. It sometimes takes finesse to get through a re-certification while still telling the truth. I was approved for a medical card on Halcion for years until the Gov't started screaming about it enough my PC stopped prescribing benzos to his patients.

No one says you have to be a bus driver, If you really don't like being yelled at or harassed give your two weeks notice or ask HR to reassign you to another job such as Dispatch. If you do not want any dsiciplinary actions against you then I would suggest following what your supervisors tell you to do.

Perhaps you would do well working with students with special-needs where you take them to and from their homes to school or a Paratransit Company taking seniors/adults with special-needs to and from their appointments etc.

My point is you are not forced to work for the school district. Did this incident really hurt you physically or emotionally? I think you are thinking this out way too much and you should just let it go. If your supervisor really thought it was that bad he or she would have called the Police.

If you felt your life was in danger you should have called the Police/Principal and Dispatch right away. This man had no right to block you. As you stated you left the stop at the right time and the student was not there. The GPS timer should show how long you were at the stop. I think you may talk with the Principal of the school and Director of Transportation and tell them what happened.

Most buses today have CCTV Cameras that record audio/video so they can help with incidents such as this one. My point is if you really feel this incident was so serious continue with your complaint and be prepared to be asked to resign.

    What are your damages?

Exactly the bus drivers must disclose any medications they take when they apply for the job and also during their contract for reasons such as this. Perhaps under the ADA you could be re assigned to another job that does not involve driving passengers. Or you could give them 2 weeks notice and find another job.

In THIS EVENT I was denied what I specifically requested, which was a meeting with the parent. I was not allowed this, though it had always been an option in the past. I asked to be removed from the route, but was ignored. An arrest is hardly necessary, nor is financial compensation, or an apology.
Support from my employer would be a perk. If you're interested, take a gander at the statistics about the negative health effects of driving a bus. The lack of administrative support in situations such as mine takes a huge toll on drivers everywhere, public and private. Unfortunately I did not know this before I started the job.

I think that means she lied on her DOT physical exam form.

really? By what right does the school or anybody else demand the parent meet with you? Did you ever think they might have asked the guy and he told the school to take a hike?

there is nothing that would be a reasonable basis for changing your route. The guy was an ass and it's over. Move on.

so what do you want? To change routes? You were denied that so you can either drive your route or quit. There is nothing else there for you.

then maybe you should find another line of work that suits you better.
