Will a Release of Civil Claims Cause Criminal Charges to be Dropped
My question involves criminal law for the state of: GA
Okay so back in may I got arrested for shoplifting. I was booked, bailed out, and fined by Walmart. I paid the 150$ fine and have been waiting around since then for my court date. Today I get a letter saying that Walmart is releasing me from any and all "civil theft claims, civil suits, civil causes of action, civil damages, related civil actions, etc"
It then states "This release does not apply to claims for restitution which the store may have against _____"
Does this mean that all charges are dropped?
Will I have to go to court?
Will this be on my record?
Can I get it expunged if so?
Any info is appreciated!!!
Re: Walmart Shoplifting Charges Dropped
Those are criminal charges, not civil. You still apparently need to appear in court.

That release has nothing to do with the criminal charges.
If you don't have a lawyer, get one.
