Getting Child Support for a Child Living Outside of the United States
My question involves child support in the State of: TEXAS
Can my ex pays child support for my child, if he lives in Texas and my child is living outside of U.S? Can I do that with a lawyer over there? he is refusing to pay what needed.
Thanks

what state issued your child support order?
Re: My Child Fathers Lives in Texas, My Child and I Out of U.S
What country are you in? Any pre-existing court orders?
Re: My Child Fathers Lives in Texas, My Child and I Out of U.S
what country does the child live in?
you don't live in the US, dad lives in TX.
if the child resides in the US, then the state he is a resident of would be where the support request needs to be filed.
if the child is a resident outside of the US, then the custodial party needs to follow the laws of that country to collect child support. and yes, with a good attorney the US will uphold a child support order.

We got divorced in Venezuela, so the support order was issued here, but he lives in Texas and now that order need to be updated years ago. That's why I'm trying to get some info and see If I can start to file an order over there, as he lives and work in Texas.

getting a foreign child support order modified to increase child support when the child and the custodial parent live in a foreign country is not a matter of US law and we can't help you with that.

So US courts do not have jurisdiction to modify it.

uh.. ok.. once a lawyer I contacted by phone, told me that if a register the divorced document in Texas I could file a child support in TX, I don't know if that can be true.

Are you trying to modify the child support order or collect unpaid child support as ordered? It sounds like you want to modify a foreign child support order.

I need to do both
Re: My Child Fathers Lives in Texas, My Child and I Out of U.S
You can't file in TX. You don't live there. You need to enforce through Venezuela.

You definitely cannot modify a foreign country's child support order in texas. If he has unpaid child support, you would be enforcing a foreign country judgment. That is very complicated to do. I don't know how much he owes but it may cost you more to enforce it than he owes.
It's called registering a foreign country judgment. You can begin to read about how to do it here. That paper is 5 years old so there may be newer case law. You would need a texas attorney to help you.
