Divorce With Assets Hidden Overseas
My question involves a marriage in the state of New Jersey...
How does one go about proving that a party to a marriage has assets hidden overseas?
Once established, how could those assets be properly brought under the jurisdiction on the courts?
Thank you so much for your help, I have little to no experience in this area of law and would love a push in the right direction, if possible.

You go thru discovery and trace the money. This is an expensive process.

They can't be, however the property division can be structured so that your share of the marital estate comes out of the US assets. If the US assets are insufficient to satisfy your share of the marital estate, then you have to rely on whatever treaties the US has with the countries where the overseas assets are to satisfy a foreign judgment. This means hiring a foreign attorney. This is an expensive process.

this is a very appropriate emoji for this situation. A good friend of mine just went thru this and she spent tens of thousands on discovery to trace the money. During this process it appears that her ex-husband hid the assets in countries like china where she doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell to get at them. He likely also liquidated some of them and bought gold and is selling gold and living a cash only existence. He was found in contempt at least twice by the judge for obstructing discovery but never got any jail time.
My friend finally gave up due to running out of money to litigate.
The moral of this story is that you shouldn't marry people who hide their assets overseas and if you do, don't expect to get anything out of them when you divorce.
