Re: Emancipation in Oklahoma
Here are the statutes regarding emancipation:
http://www.oscn.net/applications/osc...STOKST&level=1
Then find Title 10 Sections 91 through 94
Unfortunately, the statutes are not very helpful and I was not able to locate any forms or sample petitions nor any procedural information on the Oklahoma courts website.
Try dropping in on your local Legal Aid office and see if they can help. If not then you will have to pay a lawyer for help, one that does family law, I suppose.
I don't have an answer for you on the driver license issue. You'll have to ask somebody at the DMV. I doubt it, though, emancipation of a minor is for some things but not for everything.
Re: Emancipation in Oklahoma
In Oklahoma emancipation does nothing but allow the minor to enter into certain agreements/contracts.

Re: Emancipation in Oklahoma
Thank you for your help. Yes, the statutes are very vague to say the least. However, I have ran into another dilemma.
I am moving to Wichita, KS in December. I have a valid drivers license as of right now, and I have means of reliable transportation as of right now. I work full-time, and I provide for myself. I have a GED, and I was wondering if my emancipation would carry over to Kansas. I need to be able to sign a lease. I have toured apartments, and I go back and forth from Oklahoma to Kansas during the week/weekends. I have a job there as soon as I move (I have already been interviewed and called back). I don't quite know the legality of this. My mother (legal guardian) is consenting, and she supports my move. If I was to file a petition for emancipation, would I be able to get emancipated? I am currently living with my parents, due to the fact that I cannot sign a lease without being emancipated. I apologize for being "all over the place", I am just scatterbrained, and there are a lot of questions to be answered!
Re: Emancipation in Oklahoma
There are very few landlords who will actually rent to a minor - and they can legally refuse due to you age.
The chances of you being emancipated are incredibly low. If you're 17 coming up 18, I'd wait it out.
