My question involves police conduct in the State of: Wyoming
I'm out on my own recognizance for being a victim and I wish to recant my statement about my boyfriend being a pimp. He was abusive but he's not a pimp. What trouble am I facing?

What do you mean by being out on your "own recognizance?" A person is released O/R when they are arrested (it's a citation or summons to court in lieu of remaining in jail). A "victim" does not get released on their own recognizance because they are not taken into custody (unless also arrested for an offense).
If you tell the police you lied and got your boyfriend in trouble, you can go to jail and he can sue you. Before you consider recanting speak to an attorney. You might also want to speak with a DV advocate or therapist who can help you sort out WHY you want recant. Keep in mind that most recantations are not true, they are done because the victim wants to minimize the impact on their abuser for one of a dozen or more reasons. Unless your boyfriend is being charged with some form of pimping or pandering charges related to prostitution, changing the term you used won't help much.
Before you confess to committing a crime (making a false report to the police) you should speak to an attorney.
We were both convicted on drug crimes but he had warrants and I had previous charges that made him look like a pimp. He's not a pimp. And I agreed with the police saying he was. I'm not trying to protect them but now the Feds are trying to pick up his case dropping all state charges and charge him with human trafficking I just want to know what trouble can I face for being released under being a victim of domestic violence and "pimped out"
Okay ... has he been CHARGED with pimping or pandering? If not, it may be an allegation without distinction. And, if YOUR previous charges made him "look like a pimp," I suppose that means you were arrested for prostitution?
Before you do anything that might get you sent to jail, you need to speak with an attorney.Quote:

No he's never been charged with anything pimping and yes it was prostitution. But thank you, it is just allegations that I need to recant but clearly you don't have the answer besides speak with my attorney.
Only an attorney who has the details of the case can tell you what penalty you might face if you confess to making a false report to the police. There are possibly a number of different crimes that might be applied, but without knowing the details, no one can venture much of a guess. You are certainly free to search your state's statutes on line and look up the possible relevant statutes. We can "what if ..." things all day, but, in general you can face jail time and/or probation and/or fines for confessing to such a crime.
Thank you!!
