Using Images from TV Shows and Movies to Sell Clothing
I thought about how great it would be if I could just buy some outfits that I saw on TV through some sort of website, but also thought that any images from film/tv would be a studio lawsuit waiting to happen. However, a quick google search found a few websites that seem to be doing just that. Since they're set up as affiliate marketing links, they're certainly making money off of it.
So I guess the question is, how is this legal and I'm surprised studios haven't shut them down yet?

You ever hear of the concept of "licensing"?
That's when a seller of merchandise pays the studio for a license to sell the items.
Those websites selling the merchandise either have a license to manufacture and sell the items or they bought them from manufacturers who have a license from the studio.
Re: Using Images from TV Shows and Movies to Sell Clothing
That's what I was originally thinking but I couldn't imagine them actually getting studio approval for such a wide breadth of shows (this site seems more fan-based than a full on endevour wornontv.net. This one is far more sparse and maybe they have some sort of approval, but i can't find anything shopyourtv.com
Maybe because the pictures are just snipits from the entire scene?
Also the disclaimer on the lower left just says "wornonTv.net is not associaetd with any of the tv showsm, networks or actors represented on this site. I'm just a fan and I love fashion. All pictures are (c) to their rightful owners".
Re: Using Images from TV Shows and Movies to Sell Clothing
This pictures are property of the studio that owns the rights for the show. Using them without permission is not legal, and these sites would be at risk of receiving a Cease and Desist letter, and/or a lawsuit. It appears that is a risk they are willing to take.
