Can You Get Emancipated if Your Parents Drink Too Much
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: emancipation at 17.
On Sept 30th, I will be 17. I am really wanting to get out of my house.y parents are alcoholics. Saturdays are the bad days in this house, no sleep till about 4AM, they fight, get loud and drink more than they really should. The weeks aren't to bad, besides my mom she can get really rough and rude. She becomes crazy and anything you say or do will tick her off. She talks to herself, she sits and cries and prays just about anything, she fights with my dad sometimes ending in me having to split them up, they put their hands on each other. my dad comes home after work and usually has an 18 pack of beer, and fireball. They take multiple shots and most of the time there are conflicts following after that, my mom will say really rude things to me so will my dad. I can't stand being home anymore. What do I need to do to be emancipated and move in with my boyfriend?

To emancipate in Texas you must be self-supporting and managing your own financial affairs. That does not mean promising to the court that you will become self-sufficient after you are emancipated, but actually proving to the court that you are already supporting yourself and managing your own finances. You will also need to convince the court that emancipation is in your best interest.

Leaving and moving in with your boyfriend, before you are 18 can result in him being charged with harboring a runaway at the very least. Making him unemployable for life is not how you show your love.
