    My question involves a child custody case from the State of: tennessee
    Iwas served papers yesterday to show up in court to set support from a complete stranger .Was not contacted when custody changed hands due to what i assume to be fraudulent matters.Can i file any injunctions at this hearing to get my little girl back.All i ever receive from the mother is bogus contact info now my littlw girl is with steangers

    It sounds like the very first thing you need to do is retain a lawyer.

    We have no information about whether this is a guardianship matter or if somebody somehow obtained third party custody through the custody court. You need to verify the type of action, then investigate the court file to find out when and how you were supposedly notified of prior action on the file or, if there is no record of notice, how the action proceeded in your absence.

    Is there a way to research the court file by phone or net without physically being in the courthouse?Thanks for your answer it gives me a starting point

    You can check to see what information the county courts place online. Not all courts have online dockets, and some that do limit how much is available from family law cases.

    The caption of the case on the documents you received should tell you a lot -- identifying the parties, identifying the type of case, etc. It's either the same case and case number as was used in prior litigation, or it's a new case and case number. The year a case is filed is usually included in the case number.
