Titles Discovered to Be Jointly in My Name
My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: Florida
I recently found out that there is a mobile home and truck title in my name as well as in my ex husband's name. The truck was sort of expected but thought he would have changed it by now (divorced for 8 years). The mobile home, he purchased while I was living in Mississippi and told me just before our divorce that he couldn't use my credit or anything to apply for a mortgage on the mobile home. He told me it would all be in his name. Shortly after, he filed for a divorce and I walked away from everything. Now after a recent address change at the DMV, I found out that I have these titles in my name. I am planning to purchase the duplicate titles to see when and how my name was put on them.
Is this something I should I file as fraud against my ex? I know the truck isn't but I had NO involvement in the purchase of the mobile home. How did my name end up on the title?
Can I change titles to my name only and claim the truck and the mobile home as long as there is an "or" and not an "and" on the titles?
Thank you for any help in this matter.
Re: Titles Discovered to Be Jointly in My Name
Are any of these assets actually addressed in your divorce judgment?
For events from eight or more years ago, you should not expect a claim of fraud to go anywhere. The statute of limitations will have run.
What did your ex- say when you proposed transferring title from being joint to being solely in his name? It seems to me, he would support clearing up that detail.
