Can a Sibling Kick You Out of the Family Home
I am 18 years old, i live in the state of viriginia. my older brother and sister both pay the bills in the house. Neither of them have custody or guardianship of me. i live with my parent as well however my sister wants to kick me out bc she and i fight a lot. is she allowed to? she claims me on her taxes but she is not my parent nor does she have guardianship of me. I am not the problem in most of our fights and or situations but she victimizes herself and told me that she called our county magistrate and said that she has to give me a paper to kick me out and i have to leave within 30 days. is this true or is she lying? i feel like i should have the right to defend myself bc if this is true then she will start using the kicking me out as blackmail towards me. someone please help me and give me some advice.

Is there a reason you still live there, and are not contributing to the costs?

Whose house is it? Your sister's or your parent's?

If you're an adult and it's not your house (your name isn't on the deed), then whoever owns the home can bring an eviction case, serve you with notice, and ask the court to order an eviction. You don't have a lease, so, you are considered a "month to month" tenant, and 30 days would be the proper amount of notice. Bottom line being that as an adult, you can't force family members to continue to allow you to live at their home.
