Swimming in a Park at Night
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Washington
and the city of: Shoreline
The other night friends and I decided to go to a local public swimming area after dark to do some night swimming. After awhile of swimming the local law enforcement showed up and we were all issued a $500 ticket for being in the park after dark. The cop stated that we would be able to either write into court or appear in court and try to mitigate the fine and have it reduced.
Either I cannot remember the cop telling us or he never stated but what is the charge for being in a park after hours, specifically in my location? Would it be considered an infraction or a full on misdemeanor? And would it appear on my record or be done with forever after just paying a fine?
Thank you for any help anyone is able to give.
Re: Swimming in a Park at Night
What code section is on your ticket? Researching that should shine some light on things for you.
Re: Swimming in a Park at Night
What were you cited with? The Shoreline code has numbers like: 9.12.123 where as a state code will have a number (possibly preceded by RCW) that looks like 9A.12.123.

Was cited only a few days ago. Officer said ticket should come in the mail within a week. I'll repost when I know what I was cited with exactly and under what code. My biggest concern is just how I should go about the mitigation process to get the maximum reduction on the ticket.
