    Unwanted Staring or Approaching
My question involves criminal law for the state of: CT

If I'm going about my business and a man stares at me or tries to approach me, can I have him arrested for sexual harrasment or attempted sexual assault?

I feel like whenever I go anywhere I'm being stared at, stalked, and creeped on by men. I don't think it is fair for women to have to suffer this kind of abuse. I think most men are disgusting and I don't want them bothering me when I'm trying to go about my business.

    Uh ... no.

You have no right not to be creeped out by leering guys. If he is following you, annoying or harassing, you or actually makes an attempt to assault you, THEN you may have a crime that can be reported. Until then, he has the right to look at you while you are in a public place.

And "most men are disgusting" ... ??? Really?

Oh I'm sorry.. I guess my rights don't matter. Oh well, carry on then.

Please illuminate us ... what "right" has been violated when someone looks at you as you are traversing a public space?

I cannot recall any court decision that has found we are to be free of unwanted onlookers as we travel about in public. Can you point us to one?

Maybe their isn't a law.. But its not fair when I'm in my 20s and I'm being gawked at by some 50 year old pedo creep.

Go sue the person who told you life was fair, ignore the creep (if you're in your 20's you may omit the "pedo") and grow the hell up.

Well, to be fair, an adult leering at an adult is not a "pedo" ... if he were leering at a minor, maybe he would be.

And while it might not be "fair" to be stared at by some guy, that's what can happen when you are in public. And, if you dress provocatively, or in a way that attracts attention, you would have to expect to be stared at. Even if you dress casually and/or frumpy, there is no law that prohibits a person to look at you.

I suggest you wear grease or dirt stained clothes 3 sizes too large and paint your face and hair multiple colors.
