Arrest for Misdemeanor Shoplifting

My question involves criminal law for the state of: South Carolina
I was arrested for shoplifting. I was in jail for 24 hours. for the amount that i stole it is considered a misdemeanor. This is my first arrest ever and i am 17 years old. My court day is in a few weeks. i want to know what will happen at court.
what do i say?
do i need a lawyer?
the lady who caught me told me i could request PTI and that she would say yes to the judge for PTI?
what are my chances going back to jail? (i have been crying everyday at this thought)
please someone give me some good news because i am in such destraught over this. my actions were completely out of character and i do not want to go back to jail.

That's a good sign, assuming you qualify for a PTI program.

If you have good home, school, community records and a clear prior police record, the odds are very low. The rest depends on the facts and the judge's practices.
