My question involves a child custody case from the State of: MN
I'd like to have my case transferred from the county it's currently in (about 30 miles away) to my hometown county. It's not the distance that makes me want to change this, but there are a few reasons.
1. My daughters father told me that he knows and is friends with the Judge's aid. This just makes me a bit uncomfortable that he is close enough to someone like that.
2. I feel that I lost my last case based on stigma. My daughters father was using meth and stayed clean for 30 days, so the judge put her back in his home since he proved 30 days. (she was living with him before, but I filed for emergency sole custody). I have a mental illness on my health background and his lawyer used this against me even though I've been symptom free for over a year and had many doctors, teachers, and organizations specializing in mental health advocate for me. I worry the judge has this image over me now.
3. The judge didn't even look over all the evidence I submitted in fall in regards to the drug use of my daughters father.
Someone had suggested a change in venue since my county is much bigger, have more judges, and are more accepting and understanding.
is there anyway to do this without an attorney? my fear is if I try to do it without any attorney it will be denied and the judge will be less receptive of what I have to say and I worry it will have a negative impact. on my case.
If your child lives in the county that the case is currently in, you won't have any chance at changing it.

And changing venue is unlikely to produce any change in results.
