Accused of Theft After Quitting
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: texas
I just quit radioshack with a two week notice as the manager and now they are blaming me for theft. My employees stole behind my back on my days off I assume and they all quit also unfortunately I have no proof because my store does not have cameras that record. A corporate store does not have recording cameras. And now they are trying to blame me for stealing all the items I have changed my number because my district manager kept bothering me even after he laid me off a day before my actual last day of my two week notice. And I recorded the conversation of it just incase. Now he is telling me loss prevention officers wants to meet up but I don't want even doe I know I didn't steal anything I know how they work. My question is Can they arrest me or file charges on me even if they don't have evidence? I mean like I told my dm if my cameras would have worked we would have caught my previous employees but he never put cameras on my store.
Re: Accused of Theft After Quitting
Radio Snack loss management are complete bastards. Of course, there's a lot of employee theft (due to their abhorrent HR practices) and loss management will try to shoot everybody in the store once there is a loss.
Radio Snack can not arrest you. The worst they can do is file a complaint with the police. However, they're unlikely to do that. What they want is you to roll over and sign an agreement to pay money to them. Tell them (in writing by US mail) to leave you alone. If they do not, report them to the police yourself.
Believe me, you're better off not working for those bastards.
