Sued Over Credit Cards My Spouse Doesn't Know About
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Florida
I have some old credit cards debt with Judgements in North Carolina. The cards are solely in my name, my husband didn't even know about them until it was to late. One of the creditors filed to move the judgment from NC to here. What is my husbands liability to pay this debt? What property can they seize, everything we own except the house in NC which we have renters in (we rent in Florida) is in his name, cars and furniture, electronics he paid for and I am stay at home mom to twins and unable to work due to my husband unpredictable travel schedule? What should I expect next? I am assuming the reason this one is coming after me is it's more than 10k owed. Thank you, on edge. Here! I hate that my stupidity could affect him or our kids I have visions of the sheriff taking all our furniture

If the judgment is in only your name, then the judgment is against only you. However, they may pursue jointly held assets to collect the money you owe, in which case your husband will have to defend against the attempt to garnish his share.
