Does Enlisting in the Air National Guard Automatically Emancipate a Minor
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Ohio

Hello, I have a question regarding emancipation in the state of Ohio. I have done some research and ultimately, cannot seem to find the answer to my question. I haven't been able to get a hold of a recruiter for some reason.

According to: https://www.ohiobar.org/forpublic/re...anuse-255.aspx, military enlistment, a minor can become emancipated. I understand the Air National Guard is military service, however, I was wondering if it counts as "emancipation-worthy" (Sorry couldn't think of the word lol)

BTW, I am not one of those spoiled kids who wants emancipated because they don't get what they want or have a bad home life, I just want to be an informed citizen. Also I am 17.

Again this is the Air National Guard not the Air Force/

    Thanks

What did the Air National Guard recruiter say when you asked him/her?

As stated above, I have not been able to reach a recruiter due to the weekend. I wanted an answer sooner. LOL. If I would've asked a recruiter, I wouldn't have had the need to post on here.

    Thanks

You can file the paperwork to enlist when you are 18. Until you reach 18 you are not emancipated regardless, unless your custodial parent signed also.

    Thanks for your replies.

    I'm sorry, I guess I should've been a little more specific.

I am a 17 year old male in the state of Ohio who will be enlisting in the Air National Guard within a matter of days. My parents will sign all required documentation to make this possible. This was a joint decision. I am wondering, considering the fact that I will be enlisted, will I be emancipated in the State of Ohio. My main question is: In regards to the Ohio State Bar Association, is the Air National Guard considered military service?

    Sorry about the confusion.

A minor who is enrolled in the ACTIVE armed forces is considered emancipated.

Will you be on active duty?

Your question become oddly specific. Why did you specify the Ohio bar as being important to your question?

What does it matter? I was referring to material I had read and wanted to verify the authenticity. You're answer, statement rather, is oddly rude.

I don't know that it does but the fact you made it so specific suggests it does. Just trying to provide an answer that addresses your situation but since you are so offended by the question, I'll bow out and leave it to others.

Given the current draw down on combat deployments (although that can change at any time), and depending on your job field, you may or may not go active duty.
