Failed to Stop at a Posted Stop Sign
My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: PA
Is it even worth fighting this ticket. Total cost $127.50 (think this is a little to high)
Leaving work, taking a co-worker home at midnight I came to a stop sign and did a rolling stop, I stopped for a second and kept going. The stop sign is at a Y intersection so I could clearly see if anything was coming. The cop was sitting facing down the hill on the other road. He proceeds to pull me over and ask for my information, meanwhile not coming into full view of my driver side window. He says I pulled you over for running the stop sign and I said I know I stopped but not long enough. 15mins later I get my ticket and it says "Above driver failed to stop at a posted stop sign", now I know I stopped but kept going.
also noticed that the Officer didn't even get my name right on the ticket, can this be used against him, since he obviously can read. The ticket doesn't have my last name on it.
Re: Failed to Stop at a Posted Stop Sign
Rolling stop is NOT a stop. Stop is a complete cessation of movement, not just locking the wheels.
There is however NO such thing as a minimum time to stop. If the cop is stupid enough to make that statement in court, you should prevail. All you need to is make the complete stop, observe that there is no conflicting traffic, and go.

The cop never made any statement like this. The OP said to the cop she didn't stop for long enough.
To the OP, as flyingiron said, a rolling stop is not a stop. As for the mistake on the ticket, unless you are planning to go to court, testify that you were not driving and some one else with the same first name but a different last name was and they got the ticket, then it isn't going to get you off. If that is your plan, then you better hope that there isn't additional information, like your license number on there, or that the officer doesn't show up, because you would find your self in a much deeper hole then.
