Unemployment Benefits on Hold After Missing an Assigned Class
My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Florida

I missed an assigned class a month ago and my benefits are now on hold until the adjudicator decides other wise.
My problem is I've had no contact with the person who is handling my case.
I've called 5 times to the "reemployment" office asking for help on this issue and explaining the reason I missed the class and the steps I took there after (calling the Work Force solutions to explain my problem only to be told that they had nothing to do with unemployment and to just go to the next class which I did).
The csr's have been very helpful but I've had 4 weeks now being withheld from me which I think is ridiculous for something that happened once.
I've done everything they've asked me to do.
How can I possibly make my case when the adjudication officer won't even have the courtesy to contact me for the information?
I want to file a complaint against the Remployment system but how do I do that without making a huge stink about it.
Very frustrated at this point and not sure what to do.
    Please help.

    Thank you,

    Susan V

Have you been making the required certifications each week?

    Re: Ajudication Problem
Yes I make 5 if not more a week.
I am going into my second and 1/2 week now with no contact and no pay.
    I"m at my wits end.

My unemployment has been a mess since I applied in late March.
I got 1 1/2 payments then was denied because the adjudicator got word that I was still making an income through work (not).
Which cause me to file an appeal and also cause 4 weeks to be withheld.
I had my appeals done June 4th which turned out in my favor.
I received 2 weeks pay but not the other two weeks.
That's when I found out the other pay was being withheld because I missed the class on May 19th.
Then when I file last weeks 2 weeks and wasn't paid I found out I wouldn't be getting paid until this issue was resolved.
Well how can it be resolved if the adjudicator doesn't contact me?

I didn't ask about job searches, which is what I assume you mean when you say you're making 5 or more a week. I asked about filing your claim once each week as required, to say that yes, you are still unemployed and yes, you are making your required job searches, or whatever your state asks. The reason being that as long as you are, if your claim is eventually approved you will get all the back pay. If you're not...well, then, you're stuck.

The adjudicator has probably a couple hundred cases she is working on, of which yours is only one. You keep trying to contact her. You don't wait for her to contact you.

Yes I file my claims every 2 weeks as I'm supposed to.
I do contact them but I never talk to the adjudicator (wish I could).
I always get the same answer "Wait till she contacts you."
Guess it's a hurry up and wait game.
No one I can make a complaint to.
If it were their income I bet they'd be hustling a bit more.
I understand I'll be getting back pay.
The issue is the lack of communication.

    Thank you for your response.

It just so happens that I was visiting my sister in FL and saw the news from a Tampa station. I hope you realize that FL put in a new UI system, and it was failing so miserably then that the news story was that the Federal Department of Labor sent in a crew to MAKE the state get on the ball because claims were being delayed left and right. I suspect it still has issues. If you aren't happy with their speed, you contact your state legislators for your district.

This technique has a pretty high success rate. People in many states report getting calls from the UI departments within 24 hours.

Thank you very much for your response. It's taken me a while. I've actually been quite sick. Upper respiratory infection and strep throat and to top it off pink eye. When it rains it pours. lol
I wrote to both my Senators I am hoping to get some help. This week is 7 weeks now but over a month since my missed class. When I went in on the 16th I was told by the lady who told them I missed the class to just tell them when they contact me that I made the class up. Well they aren't contacting me so easier said than done. I honestly think that should be her job not mine since she told them I missed the class to begin with. Told them if they are that back up then hire me and I'll be more than happy to work and help them out :).

    Thank you again :)
