Medical Bills After Resigning Due to Dehydration
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Texas

Hello to all let me start with some background to my story.

I worked a job that involved being outside during the day for hours on in. I was at this job for 7 year before the company that I worked for decided to outsource us. New company comes in and over hauls everything. Everything was going well until on one hot day one of our employees was coughing up blood and ended up in the hospital . Turns out he was several dehydrated and had to take weeks off from work.

The following week they placed me in a different positions that I have never worked in the whole 7 years before this company showed up. They worked me for 9-1/2 hours with no breaks and only 3 Gatorade bottles all day. I asked for water about 5 times over a period of 2 hours. I never received anything , I was feeling sick, weak, and I was getting cramps. I decide at that point that it was not worth it and walked out of the job and drove to the hospital. I was also dehydrated and they put a few liters of fluid in and few other things.

Now i received a bill from the hospital for over $3,000

    What should I do ?

Did you make an injury report consistent with your employer's policies? If the hospital called up the employer and all they could say is, "He walked off the job, didn't tell us why, and hasn't reported an injury," that would likely be why you're now getting the bill.

Sorry jk I misunderstood your question .I told the hospital what happen when i initially went in. Since I have received the bill I have not contacted the hospital or employer.

there is your first problem. If the hospital ever sent them a bill, the company likely called them and said:

he never reported an injury to us. Send him the bill...and wow, they did.

so you got a bill and rather than following up with somebody that might have some answers for you (like the hospital or your former employer) you decided to go to the internet and ask people to guess why it is as it is.

I don't know of there is a limit to the time to file a notice of injury with the employer but if you expect them to pay anything, that is going to be right about the first step.

round about that same time I would be calling the hospital and actually ask them the question you asked here.

I question why you went to the emergency room, when you knew all you needed was a few Gatorades. I can see this being rejected as a WC case.

I am not looking for wages to be handed to me, this was my second job. I just want my medical bills paid.

I went to the E.R. because I was getting cramps, was dizzy and I couldn't keep water or Gatorade down . I would throw it up
