Can You File a QDRO Without a Lawyer
My question involves court procedures for the state of: Florida
Can a layperson compose and file a QDRO in the State of Florida for a pension plan? What are the procedures once it is composed(written)?

You may be able to get a sample QDRO from the plan administrator.

But be aware, most lawyers outsource the preparation of QDROs to lawyers and accountants who specialize in their preparation, and the plan administrator's sample QDRO won't necessarily do what you want (as opposed to making things easier for the plan administrator down the road).

    Yes.

    I did my own.

    And quite successfully, too.

Just the asking of that question of strangers on the internet is evidence that you shouldn't try it on your own.

You don't know how successful a QDRO is until it goes into pay status, and interesting complications can arise with regard to a new spouse's rights if you remarry.
