Sexual Harrassment at a Small Office
My question involves criminal law for the state of: TENNESSEE
We have information regarding a female worker that was employed in a small office working as a manager. She told us that there was many cases of verbal abuse/sexual harrassment by the employer who also worked in this office on a daily basis. She was not happy about it but finally came the day when she did not work there anymore and she is feeling that he abused her both physically and mentally. Question 1. What is the statute of limitations on sexual harrassment charge in Tennessee ? Question 2. If there was also other activities going on in this office that were legally unethical or placed her in a jeopardy position, how does she go about revealing those activites without placing herself in jeopardy and is there a WHISTLEBLOWER statute in Tennessee that would protect her, can she reveal these activities with Immunity ? Is there an office in the State of Tennessee that would take her information ?

I am going to address the "whistleblower" issues only....
It all depends on what kinds of illegal activities were going on. There is not one state or federal agency that covers all issues.

It would be much easier to do it this way. How long ago did this happen?
Re: Sexual Harrassment and Other Illegal Activities in a Small Office
Within the past year to two years

Then she has missed the window for filing a complaint of sexual harassment, which is 180 days (300 days in some circumstances). As to whether she is within the window to file a complaint on other issues, or if there is even a complaint to file, you would have to identify specifically what they are.

what actions did she take due to the alleged harassment? Did she ever report it to anybody?
What did she do in response to the physical abuse? Ever report it to anybody? Tell the guy to stop?
and who is WE and why are you involved in the matter?

the op's other thread:

some very odd and totally unassociated very serious issues. Especially given this one involves "we", I think the OP is asking for reasons other than he is actually involved with the issues.

JK, once again .......... We are looking to help this person with some advice ................ It is not necessary that you know who is WE .......... Nor to assume other such suggestions that don't connect the dots here ............ Looking for advice, period. We are not asking who you are, BTW.

I believe you are referring to EEOC complaints ? We are asking regarding the State of Tennessee statutes ............... If you know of them. Cannot divulge the harrassment techniques here, would have to discuss this you in private forum. Thank you.
Re: Sexual Harrassment and Other Illegal Activities in a Small Office
I am talking about both EEOC and State of Tennessee complaints. State of Tennessee is 180 days. EEOC is 180 days but can be expanded to 300 in some circumstances. Either way, she has waited too long.
You are free to PM me if you want to pursue the other issues further.

and who is we? Are you a lawyer? If not, why are you providing what appears to be legal advice to clients. If you are; then what are you doing on an internet forum asking for answers to your questions?
