Illegal Alien Married to U.S. Citizen
I've been living here since I was 4, I'm now 22, have never left the country and have no criminal record. My husband and I have been married for less than 2 years and the few lawyers we've seen say that I'd have to be sent away indefinitely with no guarantee of my return. I refuse to believe that, since I know of similar cases where the spouse isn't forced to leave the country, even when their spouse has been deported several times (which I have not been). Does anyone know if there's a different alternative? I have no clue on what I'm doing or where to begin but I feel like I'm running out of time, specially because of my husband's job, my legal status can seriously affect him. Thanks for reading and I appreciate any and all help!!
Re: Illegal Alien Married to U.S. Citizen
If you entered legally even with a prolonged overstay, you should be able to change your status based on being married to a US citizen. However, if you entered illegally to begin with, the attorneys are probably right. You need an expert immigration lawyer.

Your husband may need a new job when you try to become legal.
