How Does a Minor Get Emancipated in Louisiana
My question involves emancipation in the State of Louisiana. I'm 17 years old. I have a GED and I'm trying to get into a college but my mom put me out and she won't sign any paperwork for me to get into a school closer to where I'm currently living.
My situation is way more hectic it has a little child abuse and issues with income tax money in it also. I've been searching for a job. I need answers on what I need ans what I need to know in order to go through the process of emancipation.

Where are you currently living? Who is paying your expenses?

Minors can enroll in college, so what "paperwork" is holding you up? FAFSA documentation?

FASFA is definitely a problem, but I cannot conceive of any issue where "income tax money" would come into play...unless the OP has a child and definitely supported himself/herself for the year 2013 and the parents claimed him/her anyway. If that is the case, there are simple methods to resolve that.
Re: How Does a Minor Get Emancipated in Louisiana
I'm currently living with my boyfriend and his mother. My boyfriend's mother is trying to take care of me. I understand minors can enroll in college but my mother has to be around to watch me sign and for her to also sign the papers that's what the school told me.
My mother had lied about a lot of things to my family and tried to make me look bad and most of the lies were about my boyfriend but one night I went home and she beat me for no reason at all and I said I was going call the police and she said she was going to tell them I hit her and I never hit her. A few days after that she tried to take my phone that I bought but she couldn't get it so she got mad and put me out. And since then I've Been living with my boyfriend and his mother. What am I supposed to do?
The situation with the income tax she received her taxes and I have only received at least $100. I was supposed to get more but she's ignoring my calls and texts dealing with that situation is there anything I can do about that situation?

Why do you imagine that you are supposed to get part of your mother's tax refund?

And mom is okay with this? Unless she has lost legal custody of you and it has been granted to your boyfriend's mother, your BF and his mom could get in big legal trouble for harboring you against mom's will. You might want to consider NOT provoking mom lest she show up with the cops to get you and bring you home, and your BF and his mom face possible criminal charges.

Then you might have to wait until you are 18.
Without the cooperation of a parent, convincing the court that you should be emancipated may be impossible. You are free to try, but, you may open a hornet's nest of legal trouble for your boyfriend's family. It might be best to wait until you are 18.

If she truly beat you for no reason (and, often, this is a two way street) then a call to the police should have been made. As it is, you live with your boyfriend only as long as mom permits it.

What makes you think that YOU deserve ANY of HER tax refund?
Re: How Does a Minor Get Emancipated in Louisiana
The papers I'm talking about are papers to agree to the school policys and other papers like that. And she carried me on her taxes which means she got money for me also but I haven't received all of it
Re: How Does a Minor Get Emancipated in Louisiana
Oh no, that's not how it works.
You are never, ever entitled to anything other than a refund in your name. That money is Mom's. Period.
Re: How Does a Minor Get Emancipated in Louisiana
I couldn't call the cops when the incident happened because she took all of the phones. And blocked my ways of getting out of the house.
My mom told me to call them when she put me out so she knows that I am living with them. They are not harboring me. My mom told me to tell them to come get me.
