Teenager Secretly Dating an Adult

I am a minor of 15 years of age. I had a boyfriend who is 20 years of age.

When we were dating we both agreed not to practice anything sexual due to the fact he could be arrested for having sexual intercourse with a minor.

Yesterday however I told him that we should stop seeing each other because I knew we wouldn't be able to keep it a secret for much longer. The last thing I want is for him to be in jail.

Is what we did still illegal? Even though we never had sexual intercourse or did anything sexual (unless you count kissing something sexual).

Possibly, it depends on the circumstances surrounding the relationship.
