Changing Children's Hyphenated Surname to Just Father's Surname
My question involves name change laws in the State of: California

My husband and I were just recently married. We had three kids before we were married. Our third child has his last name since we were engaged before she was born.

Our first two kids have our hyphenated last names (at the time our future together was not certain so I wanted them to have my last name as well). Since I will be changing my last name I want to change their last name.

I want to know if I have to go through the typical court process listed on the court website and pay the roughly $400 in fees for both. I am just hoping there is a short cut since I just want to drop my last name and obviously both of us are in agreement.

He is listed as the father on all the birth certificates and we signed a declaration of paternity for all the kids.

    Thank you

There is no short cut. You need to do a name change for both children and it's $400 for filing fees for both children PLUS the cost of publication in the newspaper for 4 weeks.
