Can a Child Get Emancipated Over Abuse
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: NJ
Hello. One of my friends, who is 16, is in a situation where emancipation seems to be their only choice. An orphan, they was taken in by family who abused them. At 15, they moved to their significant others house, who was also underage and living in a caring environment. However, fastforward a year later, they are now being abused (verbally, sexually, physically) by said significant other; parents of said significant other cannot do anything about it. With their only choices to move back to abusive family or stay with abusive significant other, they have decided to try for emancipation. What would be the steps in doing so, and do you think they have a chance? Thank you.

No, claiming that you are abused is not grounds for emancipation.
If your friend is being abused, your friend can call protective services.

Not a chance at all.

If s/he is being abused, child services need to get involved.
