Is it Obstruction of Justice to Look for Stolen Property
My question involves criminal law for the state of: tx, so I posted a thread a while back on stolen property and filed a police report on the stolen property. I conducted my own little investigation i.e. calling pawn shops to see if they acquired my property and asked the teacher about the situation to where the property was stolen. is there a possibility that i may be facing Harassment or obstructing a criminal investigation charges due to me conducting my own investigation into finding my property? recently received a email from the investigating detective and he was very short with me and he said he needs to talk to me regarding my case. if there is a possibility that i may be in trouble, could I evoke my 5th amendment right and refuse to talk to them without a attorney present?
the thread i was referring to is located here:

If it is regarding your interference with his case, politely explain the items lost were of a significant enough value you applying your spare time toward the investigation might produce a time sensitive lead which you could forward to him.Assure you only meant to aid his investigation and nothing more.

think my best bet is to not talk to them anymore.its in my best interest not to.

I think you are overly paranoid, I have never heard of a crime victim being charged for obstructing because they tried to help track down their stolen stuff.

I agree. I have seen a victim lectured by the cops for messing up an investigation, but not arrested.
