Can a Teen Parent Get Emancipated to Get a Job
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: TEXAS
I am 16 years old and my 16 year old girlfriend is pregnant with my daughter, I want to do everything I can to support my baby but I am still living with my parents and they wont allow me to get a job because they dont want me to support the baby. But I need to do what I can for my baby. I want to do everything right tho. What can I do ? Is there a way I can get a job even tho my parents wont let me ? Can I get emancipated ? What can I do ?!?!
Re: To Support My New Family
You are still under 18 which means you are still under the care, custody and control of your parents. That means that if your parents say you don't get a job, you don't get a job. In your state, you cannot be emancipated at your age unless you are ALREADY living outside the home and paying all of your own expenses.
Kudos to you for wanting to do your best in the bad situation you placed yourself. I mean that. Too many teenage boys just walk away. At least you're trying to take responsibility. Good for you, seriously. But the time to worry about how you were going to pay for a baby was before you made one.
About all you can do is keep talking to your parents and hope they'll change their minds, because the law is on their side here.
Re: To Support My New Family
Get a DNA test before you sign ANYTHING after the birth of this baby.
And read these links, because you're going to have to live by them for the next 18 years.
