How to Determine if Public Intoxication Charges Were Dropped
My question involves criminal law for the state of: California (Orange County)
I recently received a 647(F) which was for public intoxication in the city of Newport Beach. I was given a court date upon release from the Newport Police station. Today, I received a 849(b)(1) P.C. in the mail which states detention only, no arrest. My question is, do I still need to appear to court, and also are the charges dropped according to the 849(b)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would certainly call the court if you have any questions, but the code section cited comes up only if the prosecutor decides to not go forward. CdwJava likes to call it "resolved by arrest".
