No, I wasn't suggesting that you were legally obligated to take care of it. Its just something that I would have done if my mother had debt hanging over her head for a dumb move I made as a teenager.
My mother is the reason I had the overdose. I was fourteen years old. I was a child, not a drug addict. Don't make snap judgments.
Thank you for your advice.
Re: Can My Parents Sue Me for Medical Bills from Childhood (14)
You said the overdose was accidental. If your mother intentionally gave you the wrong medication then there are some bigger issues here...
How old are you now as it was implied you were still 14 or possibly 15.

I am seventeen now. I turn eighteen in 6 months and wanted to know what my options were.

Did you purposefully overdose over a disagreement with your Mom ? Something does not add up here. Who told you that she was planning on suing you once you turned 18 ?
Parents are legally obligated to provide for minor children - and that includes medical care - so no, she technically, cannot sue you for reimbursement of costs to provide you with that care. UNLESS you purposefully overdosed and then ended up in the hospital, costing her out-of-pocket $$$$$. Even so, she legally cannot come after you for monies owed as you were a minor at the time of the incident. But, as llworking said, if you did it purposefully, then you may want to consider reimbursing her for your intentional act that put her out of a lot of money.
So, what is it ? Did you do something silly over a fight with Mom ? The story, as you currently present, seems to be missing some "facts".

Its a long story so I'll give you the highlights. I had a musical audition that day and I had a cold so I took some NyQuil (the recommended dosage). About two hours later I was freaking out so my mom gave me two pills to calm down and told me everything would be alright. It wasn't. The combination of meds caused me to overdose and I was hospitalized. But my mom refuses to admit to anyone that she gave me the pills so it was-is my word against hers.

Sam, I'm assuming that you haven't yet been sued correct?
Good - if you're served a suit come right back here and let us know.
Other than that all I can think of is recording yourself laughing heartily and replaying it over and over every time she calls you.
(I'm sorry folks - but a parent who even threatens this kind of nonsense is a parent who utterly failed at parenting)
(no offense, Sam)
