Roommate Left Property After Getting Kicked Out
My question involves personal property located in the State of: Georgia
I kicked my roommate out two weeks ago and he left a lot of property in the house. I would not care about it in a normal situation but I am moving to Washington state in two weeks and I can not for the life of me figure out what to do. I can not find anything online that has this situation in it. All I can find is that you have to hold on to it for a certain amount of time but I do not have that much time and I also don't have his address so I can not contact him. I sent him a couple text stating that he needed to pick up his property and he just responds with K and then never shows up. Any help at all with this question would be great and thank you ahead of time.
Re: Roommate Left Property After Getting Kicked Out
Have you explicitly told him that you are moving as of a specific date, and that the unit will be going back to the landlord on that date?
You say that you kicked your roommate out -- this was an informal thing you did yourself? Is he on the lease with you, or is he your subtenant?
Re: Roommate Left Property After Getting Kicked Out
I did tell him the specific date that I was moving and that the house will go back to the landlord. I did kick him out on my own, the landlord is an old friend and said he could live there till he got back on his feet. I talked to the landlord about kicking him out and he said it was up to me to do it. I don't think I went about this the right way and I relies that now but I still need help on figuring it out. He was not on the lease and he was not paying rent so I don't think he would be considered and subtenant. Maybe I'm wrong and if I am please correct me.
