How Can a Minor in College Get Emancipated
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Louisiana
I'm a 17 year old Sophomore in college pursuing a degree in physics. I don't live at home anymore, I'm living on campus in a dorm. My parents are hurting my education and I'd like to get emancipated, however it seems as if this can only happen if I am experiencing "Abuse" in the more traditional sense.
My parents have done several things to make this necessary. For example, they have taken my car several times without warning. They will just drive up and take it. Also, since I'm a minor, I have a "joint" bank account with them, and over the course of a couple months, they have withdrawn nearly a thousand dollars.
I don't know what to do. I've talked to them several times, but their irrational behavior continues. I feel like emancipation is the only option.
Re: Full Time College Student
Then you'd better come up with another option because emancipation ain't happening.
Re: Full Time College Student
As a minor, the car is not likely not yours. Nor is the money in the bank account from a legal standpoint.
Re: Full Time College Student
Does it make a difference that I have 3 jobs and have been fully financially independent for almost a year?
