How to Change a Child's Last Name After Remarrying
My question involves name change laws in the State of: South Carolina
My child is five years old with my maiden last name. I have since married and want my child to have my new married name. My husband is not the child's biological father but the only father the child has known since the age of 2 yrs old. This child has other siblings that have my married name. How can I change the child with my maiden name to my married name legally yet easily?

    Disagreeable
Re: Sc-Changing My Minor Child's Last Name from My Maiden Name to My Married Name
You must petition the court and show good cause.

Re: Sc-Changing My Minor Child's Last Name from My Maiden Name to My Married Name
I do not know any information on the biological father of my child whom last name I want to change (except his full name and previous city, state of residence). Will this factor delay the child's last name change process when I petition the courts with good cause?
