Can You Terminate of Parental Rights of a Disbled Parent Who Doesn't Pay Support
My question involves child support in the State of: Michigan

Today my daughter was told in court that the deadbeat father of her 2 children does not have to pay child support because he is collecting SSDI and is not obligated to do so.
is there a legal procedure to and can his parental rights be terminated in the state of michigan?

Child support is not a ticket to see your child.

She can remarry, convince her husband to adopt her children, then convince her ex- to consent to the adoption.

If Dad is receiving SSDI, there are dependent benefits that accompany that benefit and the court can be petitioned to consider those dependent benefits as child support.

If Dad is receiving SSI, there are no dependent benefits and it cannot be garnished. It's more than likely barely enough for Dad to live on, much less pay CS.

And what the others said about terminating Dad's rights. Not going to happen.

Did you miss the bit about him being DISABLED?

You do realize, surely, that getting SSDI isn't exactly easy right? As in, you really can't fake it these days...right?

    Good grief.

Aw jeez you're not even the mother here. Perhaps you and your daughter can rise above the bitterness and actually give the guy a break.

from a mother to another mother, my child father is well and able to take care of our daughter but refuse not too, that's dead beat. your daughter children father is disable and unable to help provide financially....that do not make him a dead beat as long as he is present in their lives should be good enough at least for the kids sake. They should not be put through deciding rather to love mom or dad. Let's not forget the issue should be about what's in the best interest of the children not the adults. If he is making sure he's active in the kids lives as much as he can allow him to, so the kids don't suffer.
