Recovering Property Left With the Restrained Party
My question involves restraining orders in the State of: New Jersey
About a year ago I received a restraining order against my father. After the court hearing, the Judge had given me 15 minutes to take all my possessions out of the house. During that stressful time I forgot to take one of the most important possessions with me which include my Citizenship Certificate, Naturalization Certificate, Alien Registration Card, and Medical Records. I understand that I am not allowed to go and ask him for the records or even allowed to ask someone else to go retrieve them for me. I was hoping someone could guide me through the process of getting my personal records back after being granted a Full-Restraining Order (FRO) almost a full year later. I also currently live in another state hundreds of miles away from NJ.:wallbang:
Thank you,

Hmm. Unless people are willing to go into detail on this forum, I would suggest hiring an attorney from the area where your possessions are. However, I question whether or not your possessions would still be in that location. Otherwise, if possible, find a way to obtain those items again. Sounds like you could cut a deal with your father with a willingness to drop the order in exchange for your possessions that still exist at the home. I am hoping that your intent in obtaining the order was to prevent irreparable injury (harassment, loss of time, prevent crime being done to you) rather than use it as a punitive process (punishing your father).
