Caught with Drugs After a Traffic Violation
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio
Okay well I got pulled over for rolling a stop sign and forgetting to put on my tune signal they said. When I got pulled over they smelt weed and searched my car and found a blunt and charged me with drug abuse a minor misdemeanor they told me its just treated as a traffic tickets. My questions are
    1. Should I get a lawyer to try to get the charge dropped or lowered down?
    2. Will my Financial aid from school be affected in any way because of this? I go to college and I'm in my 3rd year about to get my degree next semester so I don't want this to mess up my future.
    3. Will they make me piss test after a month to see if I'm clean if so I already stop smoking on the day of the ticket?
    4. Will this show up on my background check when I go for a job for my degree?
    5. Will my license be affected in anyway?
This is my first time ever getting in trouble with something like this. I have a clean record and don't plan on getting caught up with the law again ever. I'm not the type of kid to be causing trouble I'm 20 years old and I'm stressing the hell out about this stuff because it's so dumb.

There ya go scholar. Wait until no one wants to hire you because of your conviction also. Make sure you tell mommy and daddy so they do not get into trouble with the IRS and lose lose education deductions.

Why do you have to be so rude about it I don't understand... I'm over here stress like no other and you just want to make the situation worst. Thank you for posting what you did though I appreciate it.

Read your own contemptuous words. No one here believes that on a random lark one day you decided to accept a joint from a friend and experiment. You are a regular user.

Interestingly enough, my daughter is a junior in computer science at an OH University. She does not need weed to program. Thank You for opening up the job pool by one for her.

I'm curious ... when you say you got it all "dropped," what does that mean?

Did you enter into a deferral program?

Did the DA choose not to file? Did the judge drop the case for some reason?

I can't imagine that the state just dropped the matter for no reason ... so, what really happened?
