Nor do we for that matter. However, since the boyfriend had both the time and opportunity to go get a baseball bat, odds are that they could have gotten away and called the police themselves without any further attack.

Everyone involved seems to be admitting what the daughter and her boyfriend did - I'm just not necessarily convinced that the other guy started it.

It's sounding just a little like someone testing the water to see what might wash as a plausible defense.
