Fraudulent Credit Card Order Delivered to My Home, Intercepted by the Thief

My question involves criminal law for the state of:There was a fraudulent charge on my credit card from Amazon. AmEx has credited me the over $200 for the order, but in tracking the order I see that it was shipped to my house & delivered by the USPS on Dec 4th. We of course never saw this package, which to me means someone waited at our house for the mailman to show up w the package. Has anyone heard of this? It really concerns me.

people shipping drugs often ship to another person's house but that does not generally include the use of the homeowners credit card for the purchase.


as far as your situation goes; haven't heard of it happening. While possible, it brings into question: how did they know what date it would be delivered? How did they know you would not be home at the time? Did they hang around your house for several days waiting for the package to show up? If people are hanging around your house, would that be noticeable?

was there a signature when USPS delivered the package? If so, did they sign your name?

My guess would be they had a tracking number for the package. I've gotten work-related packages sent to the house and just left on the doorstep, no signature required.

Question: Does your mail person deliver at pretty much the same time frame each day?

It's most likely someone in the neighborhood that knows your comings and goings. It could be someone you know who has or had access to your CC at some point. Do you have teenage children? What was the purchase?
