Giving Alcoholic Beverage to Minors
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Wisconsin.
I received a "Giving Alcohol to Underage Person" ticket the other weekend. My two roommates and I are all 21 years old. We invited a few friends to come over and hang out for the night. There was 7 total minors. Cops showed up right before midnight and issued us the ticket. All of the minors brought their own alcohol and we did not distribute or purchase anything for them. Once the minors arrived they planned on staying the night and began to drank, so no one could drive home. I do not know how we are getting charged for this besides possibly allowing minors to be in the residence. Where are they supposed to go in the middle of a Wisconsin winter?
Is there any good defense or chance of fighting this in court to get it removed? If not, how will this affect my record/job hunt? The ticket just says citation, and not required to appear in court.
Thank you very much for any advice and help!!
Re: Giving Alcoholic Beverage to Minors
You an option calling not letting minors with alcohol into your place.
The minors brought their own alcohol - this was the time you could have closed the door to them.
There is no good defense. Minors were in your home/apartment/whatever...and you allowed them in, and allowed them to drink. Simple case.
